Soraka

A wanderer born of the celestial realm, Soraka set aside immortality to walk among mortals, standing between them and the harm born of ignorance and violence. She moves through the world offering compassion and mercy, guiding those who have lost their way, and mending those broken by suffering. Though she has witnessed countless struggles across Runeterra, Soraka still sees untapped promise in its people, believing their true potential has yet to unfold.

Opening

Welcome, lore-lovers, to Liandrug. This is the tale of Soraka, the Starchild of Runeterra.

The Chronicle

An age ago, when time itself was still finding its shape, the celestial realm watched the mortal world with quiet unease. From beyond the stars, the inhabitants of the heavens observed the fledgling races of Runeterra, seeing how wildly they diverged from the designs traced for them in the night sky. The constellations, carefully woven guides of fate, were ignored, misunderstood, or twisted by mortal hands, giving rise to chaos, suffering, and broken destinies.

Soraka scene

At last, one among the celestials chose to descend. Known among the stars as the Starchild, she took on flesh and blood, accepting a fragile mortal form to walk the world she sought to mend. The power that once flowed freely through her celestial being now burned within a body never meant to contain it, yet she endured. Her pain mattered little if it allowed her to heal what had been left unfinished.

Thus, Soraka came into the world, and began her long journey among mortals.

She walked battlefields where wars had no clear beginning and no true end. She wandered through cities where betrayal festered in shadowed streets, and across wild frontiers where survival demanded cruelty. Everywhere she went, Soraka witnessed mortals severing the very threads of destiny that might have bound them together. Their lives were brief, she believed, too brief to perceive the larger patterns written across time.

Yet as she lived among them, sharing their fragility, their fear, their hope, something unexpected revealed itself.

Within the tangled ruin of broken fates, a new design was forming. Unplanned. Unintended. Vast in its complexity.

What once appeared as chaos from the heavens became something else when seen from the ground. Mortals, unbound by fixed destinies, were shaping futures unknown even to the stars. Cruelty and kindness grew from the same hands. Suffering existed alongside compassion powerful enough to rival celestial light. Soraka beheld a beauty no constellation had ever foretold.

She understood then that her place was not to restore the old celestial order. The static certainty of the stars could not contain the living, shifting potential of mortal existence. Rather than mending destinies, she chose to nurture possibility.

From that moment on, Soraka sought not to shepherd, but to guide. She offered paths, not commands, encouragement instead of decree, allowing each soul to discover its own uncharted trail within a single, radiant lifetime.

Over the passing millennia, stories of the Starchild spread across Runeterra. In the frozen north, tribes of the Freljord speak of a horned wanderer who softened the deadliest winters with healing light. Beneath the streets of Zaun, whispers linger of a lilac-skinned healer who cleansed poisoned lungs of the choking Gray. In Ionia, ancient Vastayashai'rei myths tell of a seer who spoke with the stars themselves, wielding their light to heal the wounded and scorch those who threatened the First Lands.

In the present age, Soraka dwells among the western peaks of Mount Targon, within the Astral Grove. There, she watches over an isolated vastaya tribe, teaching them the art of healing and tending to the Star Spring, a pool of celestial waters said to restore even the gravest wounds. From the heavens, young stellacorns fall to the grove, and Soraka guides them until they are ready to return to the celestial realm.

Many times, she has seen civilizations stand on the edge of ruin. Through these ages, Soraka learned a truth no star could deny: salvation cannot be forced upon those who refuse it, nor can vision be given to eyes that will not open.

Still, she remains.

Between heaven and earth, Soraka continues her wandering vigil, offering mercy, guidance, and healing to any who seek it. Though she surrendered immortality, she has not relinquished hope, believing that the people of Runeterra have yet to fully awaken the vast potential written not in the stars, but within themselves.

Her form reflects that liminal existence: lilac skin, pale hair, a single horn marking her celestial origin, and golden eyes that have seen both eternity and mortality. Clad as a wanderer and carrying a staff shaped like the moon, she walks lightly, never imposing her will. She offers many paths, but the choice of which to walk has always belonged to mortals alone.

Now let's explore her relations.

Among the celestials, Aurelion Sol is known to Soraka not as a distant legend, but as a presence she understands personally. Where Aurelion Sol views her descent as a diminishment, a celestial lowering herself to the frailty of mortals, Soraka sees it differently. To her, the mortal world is not a fall from grace, but a place of discovery, where meaning is shaped through imperfection and choice.

Upon the slopes of Mount Targon, Soraka crossed paths with Pantheon, whom she remembers as the Warrior with a Spear. He, in turn, named her the Seer. Pantheon once spoke of her vision, lamenting that if the celestials could truly see what she sees, they would grieve for mortals as deeply as she does. Long before, Soraka had shaped his image among the constellations, tracing his legend across the stars.

With Taric, Soraka shares a gentler understanding. Their words reflect a shared reverence for mortal life, Soraka speaking of the world's vast potential, Taric answering that every life is uniquely faceted. Between them lies a mutual recognition of beauty, not in destiny alone, but in the individual spark carried by each soul.

Soraka is also aware of the quiet suffering endured by Aphelios and his sister Alune. She understands the pain that binds the Lunari twins, yet does not urge them to deny it. To erase that pain would be to deny their existence itself, and Soraka does not offer healing that unravels identity. When Diana walked paths shaped by moonlight, she encountered a celestial presence descending from the Astral Grove. Soraka remembers her as the Pale-Haired Woman, the Sable-Haired Girl, names reflecting transition, uncertainty, and resolve.

Of Leona, Soraka speaks as one whose face burned like the sun, a being shaped by radiant conviction and unyielding light. During one ascent of Targon, the Starchild met Tyari. As Tyari struggled upward, Soraka offered quiet reassurance, acknowledging the weight of the climb and the sincerity of the effort, without promising what the summit might grant. Soraka also maintains respectful ties with the Arbiter of the Peak, with whom she shares an understanding shaped by Targon's trials and judgments.

Beyond champions and celestials, Soraka's closest bonds are found among those she watches over. In the western peaks of Targon, she serves as mentor and guardian to an isolated ottrani vastaya tribe. There, she teaches healing, tends the Star Spring, and shepherds fallen stellacorns until they are ready to return to the celestial realm. To figures such as Illi, Hakan, Lidari, and Vin, Soraka is not a distant myth, but a constant presence, guiding, watching, and waiting, without ever choosing their paths for them.

Closing Words

Soraka's story reminds us that the greatest power is not found in the heavens, but in the choices made by those who walk beneath them.
