Opening

In this exploration, we delve into the veiled identity of LeBlanc, a pale sorceress whose cunning extends beyond the grasp of understanding. Her magical prowess allows her to mirror herself, appearing to anyone, anywhere, and maintaining a presence in multiple realms simultaneously. Always scheming just out of sight, LeBlanc's motives remain as inscrutable as her ever-shifting persona. Let's unravel the mysteries surrounding LeBlanc, the puppeteer of Noxus, and peer into the shadows where her true intentions lie.

Champion's story

As the Matron of the Black Rose, LeBlanc's identity remains as elusive as the whispers that weave her tale and as transient as the illusions that shape her form. Perhaps, even to herself, after centuries of mimicry and deceit, her true nature remains a mystery.

LeBlanc scene

The Black Rose, an ancient order predating the very foundation of Noxus, harbors initiates who have plotted in the shadows for centuries, attracting the rich and powerful to their clandestine ranks. Though the origins of their matron often elude discovery, legends persist of a pale sorceress who once aided broken barbarian tribes in their struggle against the notorious Iron Revenant, who had subjugated lands already ravaged by the darkin. Even today, the mere mention of his name, Mordekaiser, sends shivers of fear through whispered conversations.

LeBlanc, uniquely skilled within the revenant's inner circle before her betrayal, pledged to neutralize the source of Mordekaiser's power--the Immortal Bastion--severing his connection to the well of death that fueled his nightmarish empire. However, as the barbarians built their own empire in the bastion's shadow, they remained oblivious to the arcane secrets it harbored. The pale sorceress, adept at illusions, orchestrated a grand deception, making Noxus forget the dark power festering within its own heart. Her presence in history was subsequently erased around the time of the Rune Wars.

In the present day, the Black Rose serves to advance the covert interests of those wielding such arcane magic. Comprising mundane nobles drawn to rumors of miracles, they are kept in thrall and ruthlessly exploited. Even the most powerful military commanders become pawns in the cult's games of intrigue and conquest, both within the Noxian capital and beyond its borders.

LeBlanc has served secretly as an advisor to foreign dignitaries for centuries, her illusions instigating order amid chaos. Rumors of a new matron emerging with each generation only intensify the mystery-- which is the "true" version of herself? When she speaks, is it with her own voice? And what price must be paid for the favors she offers?

The tale takes a twist with Boram Darkwill, who, despite the Black Rose's aid in securing the throne, defied their advisors, prompting LeBlanc to take drastic measures. By manipulating a nobleman named Jericho Swain into exposing the cult's involvement, she seemingly allowed herself to be executed. However, in time, she reached out to Darkwill, finding a ruler plagued by paranoia and fear of mortality.

Promising Darkwill the secrets to extend his life, LeBlanc poisoned his mind while empowering him. Under his rule, Noxian reverence for strength morphed into something more sinister, and together, they ensured Swain's disgrace on the battlefields of Ionia.

Unexpectedly, Swain, armed with forbidden lore from the Immortal Bastion, dethroned Darkwill and claimed Noxus for himself. This new Grand General, driven by the glory of the empire rather than personal legacy, proved resistant to corruption. After countless centuries, LeBlanc wondered if she had finally encountered a worthy adversary.

Her actions have repeatedly pushed Runeterra to the brink of all-out war, with desperate campaigns across the Freljord, Targon's peaks, and Shurima's deserts. The darkest magic, circling closer and closer to Noxus, suggests that whether LeBlanc is the same sorceress who betrayed the Iron Revenant or merely one of countless hollow reflections, her influence undeniably stems from ancient roots.

More than a millennium ago, LeBlanc was a member of the inner-circle cabal of mages serving the infamous Iron Revenant. At the zenith of his reign, she conspired with the barbarian Noxii tribes and their god, which is Vladimir, to orchestrate Mordekaiser's downfall. This clandestine alliance aimed to betray her master, severing his ties to the Immortal Bastion and enabling the united Noxii tribes to invade it. LeBlanc also played a role in sealing Mordekaiser's personal hound demons, Tybaulk and another unnamed shadow demon.

This collaboration between LeBlanc and Vladimir laid the foundations for the Black Rose cabal. Plotting in the shadows of Noxus, the Black Rose attracted powerful nobles, exalted masters of magic, and other dark beings over the centuries. This hidden cabal guided the throne of Noxus for more than a thousand years, orchestrating many of the empire's most ambitious campaigns.

Among the nobles drawn into the Black Rose was Lady Elise. Recognizing her cunning and ruthlessness, LeBlanc approached the poisoned Lady Elise with an offer to join the Black Rose. In an attempt to prove her worth, Elise embarked on a journey to the Shadow Isles to find a valuable item for the cabal but ended up being mutated into a half-spider creature under the control of Vilemaw, the spider king. This unfortunate turn of events presented an opportunity for LeBlanc to safely travel to the Isles. Thus began a pact between the two women, with Elise providing sacrifices in exchange for powerful artifacts from the Shadow Isles--a deal that endured for centuries.

During the final days of the First Demacian-Noxian War, LeBlanc spearheaded the resurrection of the national Noxian hero Sion, although he was deemed uncontrollable and locked inside his own statue by the Grand General.

LeBlanc, known as the Iron Maiden, noticed the exceptional talent and magic of a Noxian girl named Rell. She approached the girl's family, offering to induct her into Roseguard Academy, a hidden school of magical younglings. The intention was to strengthen Rell's magic to face Noxus' ancient foe. LeBlanc oversaw the process until Rell's escape.

In recent events, LeBlanc demanded Tifalenji, the runeweaver, to return Riven's runic blade, threatening consequences if she failed to comply. She also took the form of a tattoo artist to keep an eye on Samira and revealed herself to Samira's mentor, Indari, declaring that the Black Rose had plans for her. Additionally, LeBlanc created a clone of Garen's great-uncle Hargold to pressure Lord Eldwyn to side with Noxus amidst the turmoil of the Mage Rebellion, although the effort ultimately failed, and Nockmirch renewed its truce with Demacia.
